THE MORE THEY DISAPPEAR
In 2016, I published a novel with St. Martin’s Press. The New York Times called it “soulful.” The Toronto Star called it “brilliant and perverse.” My mom thought the characters could’ve been nicer to one another.

I decided to promote the book with guerilla political signs.

They got noticed in Austin.

Created intrigue in Portland.

Someone in Houston called me a dork.

Someone else defended me.

In the end the signs served their purpose. The Week included the novel among their eleven best books of 2016, alongside Bruce Springsteen’s memoir Born to Run. Dream realized.
