Conceived in Arizona and born in Kentucky, Jesse Donaldson owes his existence to Don Henley’s hit song, “Night Moves.”

He’s been told he was the largest baby in the premature ward.

On his eleventh birthday his dad soldered an extra bar on his sister’s hand-me-down bike.

Later, Travis Friend razzed him about it and Jesse got in his first (and last) fight.

His high school baseball coach described him as “deceptively slow.”

In college, he read every book he was assigned (and still found time to act a fool).

In New York, he worked as a gardener.

In Texas, a poet taught him to ride motorcycles.  (He soon proposed.)

Up until a couple years ago, if you searched his name, you found this guy:

He was the postmaster general for Harry S. Truman.

Nowadays Jesse lives in Portland, Oregon and works as a writer.
